Tour de France 2008 Stage 21: The wait begins - How many euros will you pay for yelllow things? When we booked our two months to Paris, it occured to me that it was around the Tour de France time of year. I raced to my computer and almost shouted out that yes, we could see the finale of the Tour de France a week after we arrived. I'd like to share my experience with this photographic journey... To begin, there are the t-shirts, hats, baby suits (the profile on the left of the pic) all in yellow - the colour that signifies the winner. We didn't want to seem like tourists with a silly hat, t-shirt or even jersey (for $125 CAD), but we did acquire subtle cycling gloves that were Tour de France branded with quality gel in the palms for future use. No one in Paris wears biking gear on a day to day basis, unless you are in the Tour de France of course! Bike Barometer Along the new Green Path that slices diagonally across Copenhagen and Frederiksberg - a kind of motorway for bikes - the City of Frederiksberg has set up a 'Cykelbarometer'. It counts the number of cyclists that use the new pathway system each day. The idea is to encourage more people to ride by showing how many are using it. It is rather new, so the total number is only about 70,000. But the maximum for the year is 1 million. By the way, the sign isn't broken, it's just my camera that couldn't register the diodes. On the left it will show last years total, once we get that far.
